The most simple start to teaching kids about money is to talk with them. The more that you communicate the concepts of money, the language of money, the easier it will be for them to do the same.
Children also learn by watching and imitating as much as talking about those actions. Use mason jars, decorate boxes, or start their own savings account – anything to allow them to see you saving, so that they’ll save.
Then, repeat the process. Do the following:
- Talk about it with them
- Demonstrate the practice
- Let First Choice help!
We have great resources in our First Choice Kids Club program to help promote basic financial matters and encourage savings.
