Hiring a professional is good when you don’t have enough time or knowledge to handle the task. For many of us, hiring a real estate agent to help us buy a home usually isn’t necessary. With that said, hiring a real estate agent when you sell your home is a must in 99.95% of the situations.
Hiring a real estate agent
Let’s assume that you are going to be hiring a real estate agent to help buy a home. You aren’t going to pour over listings, schedule your own appointments, etc.
Note that while this is a personal relationship, it is also business. The real estate agent is going to be paid via commission in most cases.
The best thing to do is develop a relationship that yields you the home you want, while giving your real estate agent the commission that they deserve. A good relationship starts with an agent that knows the area. As well, a relationship with respect and professionalism, so keep your appointments and never be late.
A real estate agent is an option (but only an option)
When you go to purchase a home, things can seem overwhelming. However, hiring a real estate agent isn’t a necessity.
If you do hire a real estate agent to help find and close on a home, remember to stay local, professional and focused about your goals.
