Does a Payable On Death (POD) account have to be paid equally to beneficiaries?

No, and yes.

The Payable On Death (POD) account owner does not have to leave monies equally if more than one beneficiary is named.

Instead, the owner of the account can set the percentage of the monies left to each beneficiary. This might mean that one named person on the POD receives 50% of the account, and the other 2 each receive 25%. It may also mean that all four beneficiaries receive equal 25% amounts. Or, one person receives 90% and another beneficiary receives 10%.
